Who is the owner of Ten-Tails?

The Ten-Tails is a powerful tailed beast in the Naruto universe that was created by the Sage of Six Paths. It is one of the most fearsome creatures in the Naruto world and plays a major role in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Determining the owner of the Ten-Tails is an intriguing question for Naruto fans. In this article, we will examine the origins and abilities of the Ten-Tails, look at its history and previous owners, and analyze who can claim ownership of this formidable tailed beast.

What is the Ten-Tails?

The Ten-Tails (Jūbi) is known as the progenitor of all tailed beasts in Naruto. It has untold levels of power and possesses massive chakra reserves. Some key facts about the Ten-Tails:

  • It is an ancient, primordial beast that existed before the founding of the hidden villages.
  • The Sage of Six Paths separated its chakra into the nine tailed beasts sometime in the distant past.
  • It has a single Sharingan eye and is not known to have any true physical form.
  • When revived, it appears as a bloated chimera with characteristics of the other tailed beasts.
  • The Ten-Tails wields nearly limitless power, enough to destroy the world.

With its immense chakra levels and apocalyptic abilities, the ownership and control of the Ten-Tails has monumental importance in the Naruto world.

Previous Owners of the Ten-Tails

Throughout its existence, the Ten-Tails has had a number of different owners who aimed to harness its power:

Kaguya Otsutsuki

Kaguya Otsutsuki was the first human to ever consume the fruit of the God Tree and gain the ability to wield chakra. She merged with the Ten-Tails to become its initial jinchuriki and utilized its power to single-handedly end the wars of her time. Kaguya’s actions led the tailed beast to become known as the ‘Demon of the Hidden Mist’. She was eventually defeated by her sons Hagoromo and Hamura and sealed, with the Ten-Tails sealed inside her.

Madara Uchiha

Centuries later, Madara Uchiha was able to gain control over the Ten-Tails by gathering the chakra of the other tailed beasts. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he became its jinchuriki and was able to access its limitless power. However, Madara was betrayed by Black Zetsu and lost control of the Ten-Tails before he could fully implement the Eye of the Moon Plan.

Obito Uchiha

After Madara’s downfall, Obito Uchiha became the next jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails. Despite not having full control at first, Obito was eventually able to dominate the Ten-Tails and use it in battle during the Fourth Great Ninja War. However, the Alliance was able to separate Obito from the tailed beast and take control of it briefly before its revival.

Current Status of the Ten-Tails

As of the end of Naruto Shippuden, the Ten-Tails no longer exists as an independent creature. Here is what happened to it:

  • The Alliance separated the tailed beasts’ chakra from Obito, causing the Ten-Tails to dissolve.
  • Obito later revived the Ten-Tails from the chakra inside his body before becoming its jinchuriki once again.
  • Naruto and Sasuke finally defeated Obito, separating the tailed beasts permanently from the Ten-Tails.
  • With the tailed beasts’ chakra gone, the Ten-Tails cannot ever be revived in its complete form.

So while the Ten-Tails itself no longer exists, its chakra lives on in the forms of the nine tailed beasts. However, none of them can truly claim sole ownership of the Ten-Tails or its full power.

Who Can Claim Ownership of the Ten-Tails?

Considering its history and current status, who can rightly claim ownership over the Ten-Tails at this point? A few candidates stand out:

Naruto Uzumaki

As the jinchuriki of Kurama and the one who helped defeat Obito, Naruto has a symbolic claim over the power of the Ten-Tails. He tapped into the chakra of all the tailed beasts in his final fight against Sasuke, gaining power reminiscent of the Ten-Tails. However, since Kurama’s chakra alone cannot equal the Ten-Tails’ full strength, this is a tentative claim at best.

Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke could also claim partial ownership over the Ten-Tails by being the current owner of the Rinnegan. This doujutsu was wielded by the Sage of Six Paths and is intrinsically tied to the Ten-Tails. However, Sasuke no longer has access to the tailed beasts’ chakra, only that of his own Rinnegan. So his claim is limited without their combined power.

The 5 Great Nations

Since the tailed beasts are now distributed across the 5 great ninja villages, one could argue that the 5 Kage have collective ownership of the Ten-Tails. However, the tailed beasts exist as independent entities and their power is not totally controllable. So the villages’ claim is also weak.

No One

Considering all factors, perhaps the most accurate conclusion is that the Ten-Tails currently has no true owner or jinchuriki. No single person or group completely controls or contains its full power any longer. The tailed beasts have autonomy and the Ten-Tails cannot be revived. Its chakra is dispersed, making individual claims over the whole meaningless. In this view, the legendary Ten-Tails has no master.

Conclusion

The Ten-Tails stands as one of the most formidable creatures in Naruto lore, but its status as a weapon and power source has diminished since the end of the series. With the tailed beasts separated and the Ten-Tails no longer revivable, no one can claim to fully control or own this mythical beast. Naruto, Sasuke, and the hidden villages all have symbolic ties to its legacy, but no absolute authority over the long-gone Ten-Tails. Going forward, it will persist as a legend and concept rather than a weapon for anyone’s exclusive use.
