One Piece is a popular Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they search for the legendary treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next King of the Pirates.
The Three Great Swords
There are three legendary swords in One Piece known as the “Three Great Swords” (大三河, Saijō Ō Wazamono). They are:
- Yoru – Wielded by Dracule Mihawk
- Wado Ichimonji – Wielded by Roronoa Zoro
- Sandai Kitetsu – Wielded by Roronoa Zoro
Yoru
Yoru is considered the strongest sword in the world and is wielded by Dracule Mihawk, the world’s greatest swordsman. It is an ornately-decorated, man-sized (6 feet) black blade in the shape of a crucifix with a golden cross-guard decorated by blue and red jewels.
Wado Ichimonji
Wado Ichimonji is a famous great-grade sword and one of two swords wielded by the pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro. It is a katana with a pure-white hilt and white sheath. It originally belonged to Zoro’s childhood friend and rival Kuina. After her death, Zoro inherited the Wado Ichimonji and swore to fulfill their shared dream to become the world’s strongest swordsman.
Sandai Kitetsu
Sandai Kitetsu is one of Zoro’s current swords, along with Wado Ichimonji and Enma. It is one of the famous Kitetsu swords and is known as a “Problem Child” for its violent bloodlust. However, it is also one of the finest swords ever crafted. Zoro obtained it in Loguetown but had to test his luck against its curse first.
Other Famous Swords
In addition to the Three Great Swords, there are other powerful and named blades in the One Piece world:
Enma
A cursed “Meito” grade sword previously owned by Kozuki Oden. Zoro currently wields it.
Shusui
One of the 21 Great Grade swords. Originally wielded by Ryuma before Zoro obtained it, but was later returned to Wano Country.
Kikoku
A long katana wielded by Dracule Mihawk. It has a black blade and flower-shaped cross-guard.
Yamaoroshi
A massive, extremely sharp bamboo cutter-like sword used by Pica.
Nidai Kitetsu
One of the Kitetsu swords said to be the sharpest sword in the world.
The 12 Supreme Grade Swords
The 12 Supreme Grade swords, or “Saijō Ō Wazamono”, are the highest quality swords in One Piece. They include:
