What drug makes you feel the happiest?

Unfortunately I cannot provide recommendations about illegal or dangerous drugs. However, I can suggest safer and legal ways to improve your mood and mental wellbeing, such as:

Exercise

Physical activity releases endorphins, which can boost your mood. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise per day, even just going for a walk. Exercise also improves self-esteem and can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Socialize

Spending time with family and friends who make you feel good can increase happy hormones like oxytocin and serotonin. Make plans to regularly connect with your social support network.

Get enough sleep

Lack of sleep has been linked to depression. Make sure you are getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night. Maintain a regular sleep schedule and limit screen time before bed.

Eat a balanced diet

What we eat directly impacts our mood. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats. Limit processed and sugary foods which can destabilize mood. Stay hydrated by drinking enough water.

Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation and breathing exercises can lower stress and increase feelings of calm and wellbeing. Use apps like Calm or Headspace to help you get started.

Try therapy

Speaking with a therapist or counselor can help provide coping strategies for depression, anxiety and stress. Cognitive behavioral therapy is particularly effective for boosting mood.

Spend time in nature

Being outdoors, especially around green spaces, is linked to lower anxiety and depression. Go for a hike, have a picnic in the park, or just sit outside for a few minutes each day.

Do activities you enjoy

Engage in hobbies that make you feel creative, relaxed or energized. Things like reading, crafting, playing sports and listening to music can boost your mood.

Help others

Volunteering and acts of kindness release feel-good chemicals. Find ways to regularly give back to causes and people in need.

Try supplements

Some supplements like magnesium, vitamin D, omega-3s and SAM-e have been shown to potentially improve mood. Talk to your doctor before starting any new supplement.

Get a pet

Pets provide companionship and unconditional love. Caring for an animal can give purpose and meaning as well as alleviate loneliness. Consider adopting a furry friend!

Avoid alcohol and drugs

While alcohol may temporarily enhance mood, it acts as a depressant and can worsen anxiety and depression. Illicit drugs provide short-lived euphoria followed by a crash.

Seek medical help if needed

For moderate to severe depression or anxiety symptoms, consulting with a doctor or psychiatrist can be very beneficial. There are many effective medications and treatment plans available.

Be patient with yourself

Improving your mental health takes time and commitment. Don’t expect overnight results. Give new coping strategies a few weeks to take effect. And most importantly, treat yourself with compassion.
