The jerk chicken stood out as a personal favorite, while the abundance of fresh fruit was a welcome surprise – a rare treat during the winter months when seasonal produce can be scarce.
The Bar
At this all-encompassing resort, the bar was frequently open for business, offering an abundance of chances to indulge in a refreshing Pina Colada – my go-to drink choice. While they offered a variety of creative concoctions, there was something about that tropical treat that always hit the spot.
The Beach
The private beach at the Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach in Montego Bay was a major perk. With ample seating options available, it’s essential to be early birds and claim your spot as soon as possible – even before 6 am! It’s not uncommon for eager beachgoers to start staking out their territory by dawn. While there’s so much to see and explore, our girls’ getaway was all about soaking up the sun in Montego Bay. Here are my top picks for making the most of your vacation experience.

As you set off on the Martha Brae Rafting Tour, you’ll be treated to a serene and picturesque experience that’s both relaxing and invigorating. The journey begins aboard a 30-foot bamboo raft, which may seem unlikely to float at first glance, but its buoyancy is undeniable. With licensed and experienced raft captains at the helm, you’re in capable hands as you glide along three miles of river over the course of about an hour. As you make your way down the stream, your captain will regale you with stories about rafting, the craftsmanship that goes into creating these vessels, and the fascinating ‘Legend of Martha Brae.’ If you feel like taking a refreshing dip, this is also the perfect opportunity to do so. Prior to embarking on the raft, you can explore the sprawling Rafter’s Village, which boasts six acres of lush lawns situated within a natural horseshoe island. Don’t miss the chance to stroll through Miss Martha’s Herb Garden, a stunning showcase of Jamaica’s native herbs with medicinal properties. In my opinion, this excursion is one of Montego Bay’s most breathtaking attractions. For thrill-seekers, the opportunity to take a cliff jump from 30 feet high (or lower) is an absolute adrenaline rush. While some may be hesitant, I highly recommend taking the plunge – there are no regrets in store! To ease any nerves, a refreshing swim awaits in the revitalizing waters below. Arriving at Dunn River by land or sea – whether it’s a scenic drive or a catamaran ride – is always an exciting experience in Ocho Rios. Our family chose the more adventurous route, opting for the Chukka Falls Flyer Tour, which offered us the thrilling opportunity to zip-line through the lush palm tree forest and over the breathtaking Dunn River Falls. As one of Jamaica’s national treasures, these falls truly are a sight to behold, and it’s essential to remember to pack not only sunscreen but also bug spray to ensure a comfortable visit.

As someone who’s not easily spooked, I was initially hesitant to embark on the Rose Hall Haunted House Tour. However, my apprehension quickly turned into a thrilling experience as I screamed along with fellow participants. The guided tour delved into the eerie stories surrounding the grand colonial house, which has been meticulously restored since its 1960s renovation. Notably, it’s one of Jamaica’s few remaining great houses.
