As the summer season unfolds, an abundance of fruits and berries become available. Zespri Kiwifruit has invited me to explore four unique ways to savor their SunGold Kiwifruit variety. If you’re wondering what sets SunGold apart from its green counterpart, the answer lies in its distinct characteristics… 😊SunGold Kiwifruit boasts an impressive nutritional profile, with over three times the amount of Vitamin C found in oranges and potassium levels rivaling those of bananas. Not to mention, they are a treat for the taste buds! The sweetness level is significantly higher than that of green kiwifruits, reminiscent of a harmonious blend between mango and strawberry. What sets SunGold apart from its green counterpart? A glance at their exteriors and interiors will reveal the differences. As an avid fruit enthusiast, I relish discovering new varieties at the market – and Zespri’s SunGold Kiwifruit does not disappoint! Look for them at your local supermarket from May to October. The exterior of a SunGold Kiwifruit features smooth, hairless skin, while its juicy yellow flesh is its most notable characteristic. In fact, two kiwifruits contain the same amount of fiber as a serving of bran flakes.

4 Tasty Ways to Enjoy a Kiwifruit:

#1 Cut. Scoop. Enjoy!

Kiwifruits are notoriously easy to enjoy, and one of the simplest ways to do so is by eating them out of their skin. The process is straightforward: simply cut the kiwifruit in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. This approach has been a staple for me since my childhood days at pre-school, where my mom would pack a cut kiwifruit in my lunchbox along with a trusty spoon. It was this unusual combination that often sparked curiosity among my classmates – but I’ve always been a fan of the sweet and tangy flavors that come with eating kiwifruits this way.

#2 Kiwi Coconut Chia Popsicles

Indulge in the creamy, sweet, and tangy fusion of coconut and kiwi with a nutritious twist! The added chia seeds not only enhance the flavor but also provide an extra boost to your health.

To craft this delightful treat, you’ll need:
1 3/4 Cups coconut milk
3/4 Cup soy milk
3/4 Cup chia seeds
1 Tablespoon agave syrup
3 SunGold Kiwifruit, peeled and sliced

Here’s how to bring it all together:
Combine the coconut milk, soy milk, chia seeds, and agave syrup in a bowl. Allow the mixture to sit for 15-20 minutes, giving the chia seeds ample time to expand.
Next, place the sliced kiwifruit into your popsicle molds, pressing them gently against the sides of the mold.
Slowly and carefully pour the liquid mixture into the molds, filling them to the top. Then, pop them in the freezer until they’re solid.

#3 Kiwi Ricotta Snack Crackers

Indulge in these sweet and savory kiwi ricotta snack crackers, perfect for a quick bite or as an appetizer. If you’re not a fan of traditional crackers, don’t worry – the combination of creamy ricotta, drizzled with honey, paired with fresh kiwi slices is equally delightful. Whether served as an hors d’oeuvre or enjoyed on its own, this snack is sure to please.

To prepare, combine 1 cup of ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese) with 1 tablespoon of honey in a bowl. Spread the mixture over Wasa crackers, then top with sliced kiwifruit from two SunGold Kiwifruit, peeled and prepared as desired. Finish by sprinkling pumpkin seeds over the top for added crunch and texture. With its unique blend of flavors and textures, this snack is sure to satisfy any craving.

#4 Fruit Bowl in a Pineapple Boat

Kickstart your gathering with this vibrant and inviting centerpiece: a pineapple bowl filled to the brim with an assortment of fruits. The combination is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face! To create this masterpiece, start by cutting off the top quarter of the pineapple. Then, use a sharp knife to carefully remove the interior flesh, making it easier to scoop out the center later. With the pineapple shell now hollowed out, fill it with an assortment of fruits such as berries and your favorite kiwifruit varieties. Simply place the prepared fruit into the pineapple bowl and you’re ready to serve. This visually stunning arrangement is perfect for any gathering or event where you want to add a pop of color and whimsy.
